OurMembership:
The Marlboro Township Education Association is made up of the teachers, instructional assistants, secretaries, nurses, child study team members, school counselors, librarians, library assistants, computer technicians, clerk typists, bus drivers and bus attendants of the Marlboro Township School District . We have 750 members in our organization at this time. Active members of the Association are also members of the Monmouth County Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association and the National Education Association.
Our Purpose:
The Marlboro Township Education Association works for the welfare of school children, the advancement of public education and the improvement of instructional opportunities for all. The MTEA also advances the professional rights, status, and responsibilities of its members. We represent our members in negotiations and grievances with the School Board on all matters pertaining to the contract between the MTEA and the Marlboro Township School Board. In addition, the MTEA strives to foster open communication and cooperation with the community.
MTEA Executive Board
Robin Zegas (President)- Robin has been in the District for 21 years, teaching Math at the Middle School level. She teaches in Memorial Middle School. She has been on the Executive Board for 6 years as 1st Vice President/Personnel and was a Head Delegate Representative for her building the 8 years before joining the Executive Board.
Rita Scalzo (1st VP/Personnel)- Rita Scalzo has been in the District for teaching Social Studies at the Middle School level for 26 years. She has been a member of the Executive Board for 16 years, as both the Membership Chairperson and as 2nd Vice President in charge of Grievance. This is Rita's first year a 1st Vice President/Personnel.
Karen Jarosz (2nd VP/Grievance)- Karen has been a Building Delegate for many years and served on our last Negotiations Team. She has been teaching in Marlboro Township for 11 years. Karen is a 4th grade teacher in Defino Central School.
Kathy Bartsche (Secretary)- Kathy has been teaching art in the District at both the Elementary and Middle School levels for 23 years. She currently teaches art in Robertsville Elementary School. She has been a member of the Executive Board years 17. Kathy was a Head Delegate Representative for her building 4 years before joining the Executive Board.
Kathy MacFarlane- Kathy works in Marlboro Memorial Middle School as a 7th grade Science teacher. Kathy has been in the district for 21 years. She was a member of a previous Action Team.
Lisa Latona (Membership)- Lisa has been teaching in the District for 8 years. She has been on the Executive Board for 4 years as Membership Chair. Lisa was a Building Representative for 2 years before joining the Executive Board. Lisa works in DeFino Central School as a 5th grade teacher.

• Our schools have an excellent reputation that attracts families to our community;
• Our students are high-achievers – more than 94% scored proficient or advanced on the NJASK3 Language Arts exam. More than 95% scored proficient or advance on the Math portion;
• The MTEA – our teachers, instructional assistants, secretaries, clerk-typists, bus drivers, bus attendants, child study team staff, certified and registered nurses, computer technicians, courier, and certified occupational therapists and assistants – provide excellent service during their workdays and volunteer thousands of hours of their own time to support our students, our schools, and our communities.

MTEA Executive Board The MTEA Executive Board attended the 2011 week-long NJEA Summer Leadership Conference at the Hilton in New Brunswick.
